World No 1 Fredricson tops star-studded rider list for CHI AL SHAQAB

The world’s top-ranked showjumper – Sweden’s Peder Fredricson – will lead the charge at Commercial Bank CHI AL SHAQAB Presented by Longines 2022.

Qatar’s premier international equestrian event will take place at the Longines Arena at Al Shaqab, a member of Qatar Foundation, from February 24-26.

 The confirmed competitor list shined with stars riding high in the top 10 of the latest FEI (International Equestrian Federation) Longines Jumping Rankings.

In all, 6 of the world’s top 10 riders will compete for glory at Commercial Bank CHI AL SHAQAB Presented by Longines 2022, including world number one and Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Fredricson, Switzerland’s Martin Fuchs (ranked second in the world), Sweden’s Henrik von Ekermann (joint third and Fredricson’s fellow Olympic team gold medalist), Great Britain’s Scott Brash (sixth), Brazil’s Marlon Zanotelli Modolo (seventh), and Belgium’s Jérome Guery (joint ninth).

The showjumpers will be joined by some of the world’s finest dressage and para dressage riders, as crowds enjoy the unique opportunity to witness three Olympic disciplines over three days of the very best equestrian sporting action.

 The dressage category will see leading the Qatari rider Wejdan Majed Al Malki fly the flag for her country. Qatar’s first dressage rider to compete internationally in five-star Grand Prix competition, the talented Al Malki is working towards qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics and future FEI Dressage World Cups. Commercial Bank CHI AL SHAQAB Presented by Longines will provide her with the perfect stage to continue her journey to the top of her sport, as she looks to feed off the enthusiastic support of her local fan base.
