MICHAEL BLAKE AND FOIREANN SEÓLÉIMNEACH NA HÉIREANN TAKE THE BARRIERE NATIONS CUP CROWN IN LA BAULE
(FOIREANN SEÓLÉIMNEACH NA HÉIREANN is Gaelic for Irish Showjumping Team)
In a very exciting competition that ran tight up until the end, the incredible Irish Team of Bertram Allen riding Qonquest De Rigo, Seamus Huges Kennedy on Esi Rocky, Tom Wachman on Tabasco de Tozandria, and Cian O'Connor on Bentley De Sury – finished on zero faults to claim the honours and the first place of the Coupe des Nations Barrière at CSIO5* La Baule.
The Chef d'Equipe, Michael Blake, is always seen in the Kiss and Cry section watching on. We asked him how he feels every time one of the Team members jump, and he replied, “I'm very superstitious. Always stand beside the same person.”
The Belgian Team made of Nicola Philippaerts, Pieter Devos, Abdel Saïd were about to finish the second round on zero faults as well, but the last rider to go in, Gilles Thomas, was unlucky, and finished with four faults – to put the Team in second place.
Team Brazil’s Stephan De Freitas Barcha cleared two rounds, but his fellow Team members Luciana Diniz, Pedro Veniss, and Rodrigo Pessoa, also carried some faults, to put the Team in third place.
