CSI2* CAIRO KICKS OFF WITH THRILLING DAY ONE

CSI2* Cairo International Showjumping Competition burst into action today at the Police Sports Federation in Wadi El Forosya, marking a high-calibre start to the three-day event.

Day 1 delivered Small, Medium and Big Tour classes featuring up to 200 national and international riders taking on courses designed by Egypt's own Ashraf Abdallah.

A highlight of the opening day was the performance of several foreign athletes whose horsemanship shone through as they competed successfully on borrowed mounts.

In the Small Tour (Accumulator), the Netherland’s Rens Spreuwenberg on Future Trend got a fifth placement behind Egyptians Abdelrahman Mohamed Samir on MappywiggyVd Watermolen in fourth, Hussein Bakry on Cathrina in third, Fares Mohamed Fared on Orestes van het Tolhuis in second, with first place going to Omar Soliman on Little China Girl d'Alphi.

Rens Spreuwenberg again - but this time on Jesabelle de La Verderie – got another fifth placement in the Medium Tour (One round against the clock). Egyptians Youssef Nassar on Kees was placed fourth and Ali Osama Abdelghani on Le Rouge in third, the Netherland’s Pim Mulder on Lesario AS in second, with Egypt’s Seif Yasser Fekry on Mambria taking first spot.

As for the final class of the day, the Big Tour (Special Two-Phase Competition), Egypt’s Ismail Osama El Borai on Athena d'OR took first place, Pim Mulder again but this time on Mister Jumper took second, Egyptians Selim Gaafar on J Star V Bareelhof took third, Nour Hazem on Lablue took fourth, and Seif Eldin Essam Abbas on Lexus van de Laren Z took fifth.

CSI2* Cairo runs until Sunday the 18th of October.
