:::From the 15th of July till the 20th, 2014 - CHIO Aachen, one of the most prestigious events on the show jumping circuit – will host competitions between 64 of your favourite athletes and 228 horses.
Simultaneously, Aachen will host the ‘Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping’ Grand Prix on Sunday the 20th where 1,000,000 Euros in prize money are at stake for the winner (won in 2013 by Nick Skelton and Big Star).
The Chairman of HORSE TIMES Khaled Assem has spoken with the Rolex Testimonee, 2012 Olympic gold medallist, 2013 CHI Geneva winner, and this year’s Aachen contender, Steve Guerdat - who told us about his preparations to try to become a sporting legend by winning a second Rolex Grand Slam this week.
Impressions after the call:
“Steve is a very calculated rider, he plans his career well, he is very in tune with his horses, and is very aware of how much to ask from each and every one of them. He realises his strengths and that is what gives him his core metal strength and the ability to utilise pressure positively.
“First and foremost, he enjoys competitiveness and realises that having strong adversaries of horse and rider combinations makes it all more appealing. Apparently, he is ready to win, yet also, he is willing to try another day and that in itself adds to his strength."
