MINISTER OF YOUTH AND SPORTS ATTENDS PRESS CONFERENCE FOR CSI2*-W SOMABAY

Following the success of the Egypt Equestrian Cup held in the resort of Somabay, Hurghada, in March 2026, the Egyptian Equestrian Federation is set to organise a CSI2* World Cup 2026/2027 qualifier by the Red Sea from 1 to 5 December 2026.

The FEI Jumping World Cup™ Arab League for the 2026/2027 season is split into two sub-leagues: the Middle East Sub-League and the North African Sub-League. Riders earn qualifying points within their respective sub-leagues to secure spots for the 2027 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final in Gothenburg, Sweden (24–28 March 2027).

The League starts with three CSI3* shows in Morocco, then moves to Egypt with two CSI2* shows - including the Somabay event -followed by CSI43*/4*/5* shows in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, and Qatar.

H.E. Mr Gohar Nabil, Minister of Youth and Sports, attended the press conference for the 'Egypt International Equestrian Competition - Somabay' held in the New Administrative Capital. He was joined by members of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Equestrian Federation and representatives of RMC as preparations for the event continue.  The press conference highlighted the logistical preparations and event schedule to deliver a tournament that reflects Egypt’s capability in hosting major international showjumping competitions. The Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting international sporting events that strengthen Egypt’s position on the global sports map. He also emphasised the importance of collaboration between the Ministry, the Federation, and organising entities to ensure the event meets the highest international standards.

Dr Ismail Shaker, President of the Egyptian Equestrian Federation, expressed his appreciation for the Minister's support while highlighting the private sector’s role in advancing equestrian sports and promoting sports tourism. He added that the upcoming period will see an expanded competition calendar and further development of the junior talent base.
