SHOWJUMPING RIDERS AND HORSES AT THE LONGINES CSIO5* ST. GALLEN 2025

Olympic, world and European champions will lead the field of participants at Switzerland's official showjumping tournament on the Ascension weekend. The proven sporting highlights, the high international reputation of the tournament and the attractive prize money of almost one million euros ensure that these equestrian stars from all over the world will be coming to St. Gallen again this year from the 29th of May till the 1st of June, 2025.

With three-time British Olympic champion Ben Maher (world no. 2), the two Swiss riders Steve Guerdat (world no. 5) and Martin Fuchs (world no. 6) as well as the Bavarian Max Kühner (world no. 7) competing for Austria, and the Germany’s Richard Vogel (world no. 9), five riders from the top 10 of the Longines World Rankings will be present.

In addition to Guerdat and Fuchs, Swiss Chef d'Equipe Peter van der Waaij has also named Edouard Schmitz and Nadja Peter Steiner to the Team, as well as twelve other riders from the Swiss squad. It will be anything but easy for Switzerland to win the Nations Cup for the third time in a row as any Team from the other eights are capable of winning.

For Germany and in addition to Vogel, national coach Otto Becker is relying on such illustrious names as Hans-Dieter Dreher, Olympic champion Marcus Ehning, Sophie Hinners and Michael Viehweg for the line-up.

Thanks to Roger Yves Bost and Penelope Leprevost, France can count on two Olympic champions who will be competing alongside Stanislas de Malet, Nicolas Sers and Olivier Robert.

As for Great Britain, joining Ben Maher will be Scott Brash, Jane Annett, Jessica Mendoza and Matthew Sampson.

London 2012 Team bronze medallists, the Saudi Team, will include Olympic athletes Ramzy al Duhami and Abdulrahman Alrajhi.

Jos Verlooy, Yuri Mansur and Denis Lynch lead the Teams from Belgium, Brazil and Ireland. In addition to Kühner, the Austrian Team also includes Christoph Obernauer, Alessandra Reich, Katharina Rhomberg and Markus Saurugg.

Tournament director Kai Huttrop-Hage is very satisfied: "The interest in our event was so enormous that we decided on nine nations. The Chef d'Equipe have kept their promises and are arriving with extremely strong riders and their top horses."

The nine participating nations at the Land Rover Discovery Nations Cup on the 30th of May are Brazil, Ireland, the Netherlands, Austria and Saudi Arabia, Belgium, Germany and Great Britain as opponents of the Swiss Team. They’ll compete for 250,000 euros in prize money. The seven European countries are preparing for the European Championships in mid-July in A Coruña in Spain, while Ireland and Austria will be looking to defend the medals they won in Milan in 2023.

Tournament director Kai Huttrop-Hage is very satisfied: "The demand was so great that we decided to allow nine teams to take part. We are convinced that we will have attractive nations with their top riders at the start."
