Longines FEI Jumping European Championship - Day 1

The 2025 edition of the Longines FEI Jumping European Championship commenced at the Casas Novas Equestrian Center with the ‘Checkpoint Trophy’ speed class, won by Irish rider

As the competition was decided by time, riders delivered minimal faults in a fiercely contested event. Coyle, riding his mare Legacy, narrowly claimed a win over Germany’s Richard Vogel on United Touch S by just three hundredths of a second. Britain’s Donald Whitaker finished third with Millfields Colette.

Spanish riders showed promise, with Armando Trapote delivering a standout performance on Tornado VS. His clear round earned him 11th place, just behind in time, translating to 1.40 penalty points in the provisional standings.

The rest of the Spanish team faced challenges, resulting in an 11th-place position in the provisional team ranking. Currently, Great Britain leads with 3.96 points, followed by Germany with 4.19, and Belgium in third with 4.61. Spain stands in 12th place with 15.15 points.

Daniel Coyle, competing as an individual, received the Checkpoint Trophy from Mariano Tudela, Vice President of Sales at MAS Worldwide.

Additional Recognition for Armando Trapote:

The event also featured a special prize sponsored by NH Collection, awarded to the top Spanish rider. Armando Trapote riding Tornado VS, earned this accolade as a promising medal contender. The award was presented by Raúl Fernández Martín, Operations Director for the Northern Zone.

The second qualifying round for both Individuals and Teams is set for Thursday 17th of July at Casas Novas Equestrian Center beginning at 15:00.
