RED SEA RESORT SOMABAY SET TO HOST THE 2026 EGYPT EQUESTRIAN CUP
Somabay, the Red Sea’s premiere sporting and lifestyle destination, has been confirmed as the host for the 2026 Egypt Equestrian Cup.
This high-octane event, organised by RMC in collaboration with the Egyptian Equestrian Federation (EEF), is scheduled to run from 26 to 28 March 2026. Conveniently located just south of Hurghada International Airport, Somabay is transforming into a world-class arena for the tournament, building on the momentum of the 2024 Cup. The official announcement was made by Dr Ismail Shaker, President of the EEF, Dr Ahmed Mukhtar of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ibrahim El Missiri, CEO of Somabay, and Ahmed Ebeid, Founder and Managing Director of RMC.
This year’s Cup is a major play for Somabay as it solidifies its status as a powerhouse for international sports and elite cultural fixtures. With between 150 and 200 riders expected to compete, the event is a central pillar of Egypt’s strategy to advance in the sports tourism market.
HORSE TIMES, the official media ambassador of the EEF, will be on the ground to provide coverage and expert insight throughout the show.
Ibrahim El Missiri, CEO of Somabay, noted that the resort’s strategy is focused on delivering a comprehensive sporting hub with the infrastructure to match international demands. He emphasised that partnering with the EEF and RMC for the Egypt Equestrian Cup is a significant step into the equestrian world, designed to attract a sophisticated demographic of domestic and international visitors to the Red Sea coast.
Dr Ismail Shaker, President of the EEF, explained that Somabay was the clear choice for the event due to its proven ability to manage elite-level logistics and its top-tier facilities. He stated that the federation’s vision is to scale the reach of equestrian sports in Egypt by maintaining professional, high-standard environments that showcase the country as a global centre for the sport. This collaboration, backed by over 80 years of federation history, positions Somabay as a unique international destination where sport, luxury hospitality, and contemporary lifestyle meet.
