THE ARGENTINE POLO TRIPLE CROWN: HURLINGHAM OPEN GRUDGE MATCH FINAL TOMORROW

The best of the best of super high goal polo is under way in Argentina right now. The highest ranked players are playing in the highest ranked tournaments, each team carrying a handicap just short of a perfect 40. Family pride, generational loyalty, historical rivalries, inbred skill and intuition all come into play on the field. The stakes are high. This is the Argentine Triple Crown.

On 12 October the first tournament of the Triple Crown, the Tortugas Open, saw La Dolfina Hope Fund (Juan Martin Nero, Adolfo Cambiaso, Pablo MacDonough, and David ‘Pelon’ Stirling) take a stunning 16 to 14 win over Ellerstina Piaget (Facundo Pieres, Gonzalo Pieres, Mariano Aguerre, and Nicolas Pieres), disappointing Ellerstina’s hopes for a 7th consecutive Tortugas Open win.

Next comes the Hurlingham Open, the second in the Triple Crown series and the 3rd highest ranking polo tournament in the world. The Hurlingham Open final will again pit La Dolfina Hope Fund against Ellerstina Piaget TOMORROW.
