On Saturday 19th April, British Polo Day, presented by Land Rover, brings elegance, style and the best amateur traditions of polo to African soil with the inaugural British Polo Day Morocco.
Hosted by the Jnan Amar Polo Club for the benefit of the Eve Branson Foundation, under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco and under the auspices of the Royal Moroccan Federation, British Polo Day Morocco will take place set against the awe-inspiring backdrop of the Atlas Mountains. Players from the British Army, the Moroccan Royal Guard, the British Commonwealth Team and the Jnan Amar Polo Club will entertain the who’s who of Moroccan society and some of the world’s most influential figures and well-known celebrities.
Travelling with Abercrombie & Kent, international guests will enjoy an exclusive four-day itinerary, taking in some of Marrakech’s most spectacular landmarks including the elegant Royal Mansour, the hip boutique Riad El Fenn, Sir Richard Branson’s Kasbah Tamadot and culminating at the historic, regal La Mamounia – the setting for British Polo Day Morocco’s closing Gala Dinner and Charity Auction.
Setting the precedent for this spectacular inaugural event, guests will enjoy an exclusive private viewing of the Royal Mansour’s new exhibition over cocktails on the evening of Thursday 17 April. Next day, guests will also explore their stunning surrounds as part of the very first Atlas Mountains Land Rover Experience. Honing their off-road driving skills, guests and two Virgin Galactic Astronauts, Rebecca Popell and Maureen Gannon will drive through the mountains to visit some of Morocco’s most remote, struggling Berber villages, supported by The Eve Branson Foundation.
As part of an ongoing commitment to philanthropy, British Polo Day Morocco is delighted to support the work of Eve Branson, Sir Richard Branson’s mother, and her Foundation that works to support education, employment and healthcare initiatives in these villages. With a Charity Auction featuring prizes such as an opportunity to play tennis with Sir Richard Branson; a US$15,000 seven-day travel experience on the edge of wildness at exclusive retreat Nihiwatu, Sumba; a week in one of 3rd Home’s luxurious properties and Virgin flights to New York, British Polo Day hopes to raise significant funds for this worthy cause.
With the polo drawn to a close, guests will spend the Sunday at the magical boutique hotel, Kasbah Tamadot. One lucky guest – the winner of the auction prize – will take to the court to challenge Sir Richard in a rather memorable game of tennis, followed by lunch for all at the hotel’s celebrated Kanoun Restaurant.
