SAMEH EL DAHAN ANNOUNCES RETURN TO REPRESENT HOME COUNTRY EGYPT

International showjumping rider Sameh El Dahan has announced his return to competing under the Egyptian flag, concluding a five-year tenure representing Team Great Britain.

The Egyptian Equestrian Federation (EEF) Board Member, Dr. Karim El Sobky, confirmed to HORSE TIMES this morning that the FEI delivered the official approval to the federation yesterday. The decision follows recent advancements and administrative efforts by the EEF leadership, currently led by Dr. Ismail Shaker, a former showjumping rider and professor at the American University in Cairo.

El Dahan, who is also a medical doctor, stated that the timing is right to return to his home country and contribute to Egypt's presence on the international stage.

Reflecting on his time with Team Great Britain - which concluded with a victory in the 2* Grand Prix in Mullingar - El Dahan expressed his gratitude for the support received from the British Equestrian Federation, Chef d’Équipe Di Lampard, and his teammates.

Following a dispute with the previous administration of the EEF, El Dahan switched to representing Great Britain, after having not been selected for the Tokyo Olympic Games squad.
