LONGINES GLOBAL CHAMPIONS TOUR CAIRO READY TO GO
The 2026 Longines Global Champions Tour kicks off in Cairo, Egypt, from October 22 to 24 for the first time ever. Top international showjumpers will compete in front of the iconic Pyramids of Giza for a share of a €1.75 million prize pool.
This historic event is supported by Qatar’s Years of Culture initiative, which celebrates cultural connections between Qatar, Egypt, and Greece. It marks the second-to-last stop of the season, making the competition extremely important before the Playoff event in Rabat and the title for the year’s Championship in Verona.
Current leader Abdel Saïd will be trying to hold onto his top spot against tough rivals like Max Kühner, Ben Maher, and Christian Kukuk. Local fans will also get to cheer on Egyptian stars Sameh El Dahan and Nayel Nassar, who are excited to compete on home soil in a world-class venue.
Thursday 22 October classes will only cover the Global Champions League competitions:
You'll watch the 17 GCL teams compete with each horse and rider combination riding one after another, 13 as individuals, and the rest for the team, over two rounds.
Each team picks two riders to complete round one over 1.55m jumps. All the combinations need to clear their rounds and keep the rails up; if not, every fault will cost points, and so will the slowest combinations.
The top 10 teams with the fewest total faults qualify for round two over 1.55m jumps. The fastest time from a team in round two acts as a tiebreaker if teams have the same faults.
The top 40 individual riders qualify for the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Cairo on Saturday.
The courses will be designed by international course designer, Italy's Uliano Vezzani, and you can tap the news link in our bio to see all the participating riders and their horses.
