CHI AL SHAQAB 2017 FRIDAY 3RD MARCH – CSI3* 1ST CLASS

CHI AL SHAQAB 2017, Doha, Qatar

43 riders came to make their mark in the 1m30 speed class on the second day of jumping at CHI AL SHAQAB. It proved challenging for many combinations with just 11 clears and a number of retirements and eliminations.

It was another storming win for Ali Al Khorafi from Kuwait in the CSI 3 * who is proving to be a master of speed by posting a winning time of 60.22 seconds. This time he was riding his other horse Columbus, having won on Cheril in yesterday’s speed class. Columbus is a ten year old gelding by Oldin and is owned by Kuwait Riding Centre, for whom Al Khorafi rides.

Speaking after his win Al Khorafi was thrilled to have another victory. “This place (Al Shaqab) has been good to me and I love coming here. I ride professionally and am based with my horses in Kuwait for most of the year. In the summer months I train in Holland” he explained.

Second place went to another Kuwaiti rider- Latifa Al Othman riding Kajaszo Molokai. She cites this as the biggest win yet. Speaking of her result “It’s a good opportunity for me to test among the senior riders and I am really happy with my results. I have just this one horse to ride.”  Al Othman finished with a time of 60.87 seconds on her eleven year old mare.

Abdulkarim Abbar from Saudi Arabia picked up third spot with the Dutch bred  Ziezo to finish in a time of 61.18 seconds.
