Press release (Edited)
Sensational sport at the 41st International Frankfurt Festhallen Riding Tournamen in Frankfurt which will provide a grand international conclusion to the year for the German tournament scene. The International Frankfurt Festhallen Riding Tournament, from 19th to 22nd December, a four-star event with a total of 365,000 Euros up for grabs, is drawing competitors from 21 different countries to the time-honoured Frankfurt Festhalle.
These include numerous medal winners from international championships in both dressage and show jumping. The entire gold-winning team from the 2013 Dressage European Championships will be assembled in Frankfurt, although they are competing in different events. Helen Langehanenberg (Billerbeck) will be piloting young four-legged “jewel“ Rohjuwel through the final of the Louisdor Prize, Isabell Werth (Rheinberg) has her spectacular mare Bella Rose with her for the same event, as well as young Lezard for the final of the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal. Fabienne Lütkemeier (Paderborn) is going international with D’Agostino in the big events, chasing world-ranking points. There she will meet team colleague Kristina Sprehe (Dinklage) and her stallion Desperados.
Also joining the party will be former double world champion and team Olympic champion Nadine Capellmann (Würselen), silver medal-winning team member Dorothee Schneider (Framersheim) and Olympic 2004 champion and 2006 team World hampion, Hubertus Schmidt (Borchen).
SHOW JUMPING STARS:
Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff and Paul Schockemöhle play host at the Frankfurt Festhalle, and the mixture of routiniers and young guns promise to provide sensational sport. Last year’s winner Christian Ahlmann has prescribed a break for his horses, in consultation with the German Trainer, but fans can look forward to seeing three-time World Cup champion Marcus Ehning (Borken). Making the most of the CSI in Frankfurt: DKB Riders Tour winner Carsten-Otto Nagel from Wedel, Ehning (Borken), and Janne Friederike Meyer (Hamburg) – all three of whom won World Championship golds in Kentucky in 2010. 2008 Olympic silver medallist and 2011 European champion Rolf-Göran Bengtsson from Sweden will be there, as well as 2006 World champion Jos Lansink and 2006 team World champion Jeroen Dubbeldam (Netherlands), who also won Olympic gold in Sydney in 2000. In Katharina Offel (Wipperfürth) the tournament will be welcoming one of the best Amazonian women in the world to Frankfurt, and in Hugo Simon (Austria), a man who has literally already won everything – some things, like the World Cup, he has won three times.
The up-and-coming generation will not make things easy for the established show jumpers. David Will (Pfungstadt) proved that with his world cup win in s`Hertogenbosch, just like Angelina Herröder (Büttelborn) with her triumph in Dortmund. 18 year-old Irish rider Bertram Allen is the Emerald Isle’s top young rider, and many people’s hopes are resting on the shoulders of Sweden’s Douglas Lindelöw. At just 21, the European Junior Champion had already won several big tests.
SO MUCH AT STAKE IN FRANKFURT:
Four world-ranking show jumping events, three world-ranking dressage events and the finals of both the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal and the Louisdor Prize will be the highlights of the International Frankfurt Festhallen Riding Tournament. The event runs a total budget of 1.7 million Euros.
The international part of the tournament, which in 2012 attracted around 43,000 spectators, comprises 14 international tests in show jumping and three international dressage tests. This has an almost magnetic effect on competitors from Germany, Ireland, Russia, Sweden, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, New Zealand, the USA, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Mexico, Latvia, the Ukraine, Norway, Australia, Denmark, Spain, Portugal and Luxembourg.
HR LIVE FROM THE INTERNATIONAL FESTHALLEN RIDING TOURNAMENT:
HR Television will be reporting from the Frankfurt Festhalle on Saturday 21st December as part of the “heimspiel! am Samstag” programme, from 17.00 to 17.30. The TV channel will also be taking a look behind-the-scenes of the international indoor riding tournament on Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
HESSIAN HIGHLIGHTS:
Hessian Day on Thursday will provide an insight into the very best of the host state’s equestrian sport. The ST Masters Dressage, the team competition for trainers and trainees at a high level, will be decided, and the Indoor Championship of Hessian show jumpers will create a rush of activity. Hessian Day will sparkle with the Dieter Hofmann Foundation Prize in horse exchange, team show jumping will be contested in unusual style with three different levels of course for three team members, and the region's juniors will be taking part in their own final of the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal in both show jumping and dressage. Mid day, eventing riders will whiz through the arena in the USG Indoor Cross Country. Put simply: Hesse will be shown in all its glory!
The icing on the cake awaits spectators in the evening. The riding associations will be staging truly fantastic theatre in the form of a show competition. Brilliant costumes, riveting stories and association members both big and small will show just how creative they can be with their ponies and horses. Eight riding associations will be taking part in the show competition. For example: the RFZ Daubhausen with “Asterix and Obelix against horse tax“or RFV Butzbach with “Classic meets Pop”. All the associations will compete before a panel of well-known judges. In addition, there will be an audience vote. All of this happens on Thursday evening and it will be a real highlight for the Tournament.
